Kris Boeckmans

Due to knee problems 2011 was not what Kris Boeckmans had expected, although the young Belgian finished the season nicely with a third place behind the sprinters Kittel and Degenkolb in the Münsterland Giro. In the years prior to that, Boeckmans had showed his link class and speed with a sprint win in the Schaal Sels (this was actually as a trainee), the Ster Elektro Toer and the Driedaagse van West-Vlaanderen. On top of that he was European Champion on the road in 2009. The Vacansoleil-DCM team management sees in Boeckmans as an important trump card in the sprints and also feels that this new acquisition still has a considerable margin of growth.
