Cycling Races 2017 Calendar

The cycling WorldTour races calendar for 2017 for August through to October are listed below with some details about participating teams. The women’s WorldTour made its début in the 2016 season, and gains four new events for 2017.

7-13 August Eneco Tour, Benelux

The Eneco Tour continues in 2017 under a new name – BinckBack Tour. It is the only multiple-day cycle race on WorldTour level in Belgium and the Netherlands. Traditionally featuring the hills of Amstel Gold Race, Liège-Bastogne-Liège and the Tour of Flanders, the stage race is tailor made for classics riders and hill specialists.

19 August-10 September Vuelta a España

Starting with a 13.8-kilometre team time trial in Nîmes, France, it will be only the third time in the race’s 80-year history that it has commenced outside Spain. The race progresses to Andorra on stage three and then into Spain on stage four, finishing in Tarragona.

20 August Cyclassics Hamburg, Germany

In 2017, Europe’s biggest cycling race will make for an exciting atmosphere in Hamburg once again. And you can be a part of it. Choose one of three distances and take on your personal challenge.

27 August Bretagne Classic Ouest-France

An elite cycling classic held annually, the race was originally named Grand-Prix de Plouay and, from 1989 to 2015, GP Ouest-France. It was included in the inaugural UCI ProTour in 2005 and in 2011 in its successor, the UCI World Tour. Since 2016 it is called Bretagne Classic Ouest-France.

Since 2002, a women’s event, the GP Plouay-Bretagne is organized on Saturday, the day before the men’s race. Supporting events have grown over the years and now include BMX races, track racing and a mass-participation ride.

8 September Grand Prix Cycliste de Québec

The Grand Prix Cycliste de Québec is a single day race, first held in 2010. Unlike most classics Québec is a race on a circuit. Totalling around 200 kilometres.

10 September Grand Prix Cycliste de Montreal

The 8th edition of the Grand Prix Cycliste de Montreal, UCI WorldTour event will be held in Quebec’s largest city. This race is said to be one of the more strategic races for the development of elite cycling on this side of the Atlantic.

30 September Il Lombardia

Il Lombardia, previously known as the Tour of Lombardy or Giro di Lombardia, is traditionally the last major outing for the peloton before they take their off-season break.

10-15 October Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey

Postponed from earlier in the year due to political unrest, the race has the continued support of the Turkish Government and the race organisation to ensure the success of the event. The date change is only for the 2017 season.

19-24 October Tour of Guangxi

The UCI (Union Cycliste Internationale) Cycling Gala moves from Dubai to China. The UCI and Wanda Sports have created a six-day Tour of Guangxi for 2017. A women’s Tour of Guangxi also comes onto the calendar in 2017 and will apply for the Women’s WorldTour from 2018.
