Marco Marcato

It was a liberation for Marco Marcato when, last year, he was finally able to achieve his first victory in the Vacansoleil-DCM outfit in the Tour de Vendée. In the three years in service of the Dutch team, the Italian was good for more than twenty podium place in important races, but now he has finally been able to move onto that top step. And the team was overjoyed for him, because Marcato is a rider who gives it his all at full speed from the early spring until late autumn, and every race he hunts for that high classification. In 2012 this was made abundantly clear by victories in early February and in mid-October (Paris-Tours). The Italian was also present at the front until deep into the final of the World Championships and the autumn classics. Marcato entered winter with a victory in Tours with the intention of playing an even bigger part in the classics in 2013.
