Marczynski drops two places and is now thirteenth
The ambition to end the Vuelta a España this Sunday with a top ten classification will be harder after the seventeenth stage. Thomasz Marczynski lost two spots in the standings and now is thirteenth. The Polish rider did not have a bad day but he jumped at unfortunate moments in the spectacular ride. Despite the instructions of the teamleader Marczynski was sadly surprised by the erratic stage movement.
For Rob Ruijgh the Vuelta ended prematurely. Yesterday he went to bed with a rumbling stomach and it seemed to be a bad sign. Even before the start of the stage the rider of Limburg vomited and during the stage he had no power to jump with the peloton. After he quit Ruijgh also had diarrhoea.
My Vuelta went pretty well and I had a lot of confidence in a strong third week. I had high hope to show myself. Im feel really bad that this is happening to me now. It is something that will be over in a day or two but that is not going to help me now. If you vomit, you are empty. Not surprising that you do not have the power anymore. I was alone and was knocked. Anyway, I got sixteen days Vuelta in my legs and that will be good for future races. When? As soon as possible! Rob Ruijgh said at Fuente Dé.
