Vacansoleil-DCM still has bad luck in the Tour de France.
After the run of crashes, a seventh place is good news. In the stage to Le Cap dAdge Marco Marcato was the lucky one. A day earlier the Italian also participated in the attempted attack. It wasnt a stage win, but Marcato still has hope.
Twenty-three kilometres from the finish there was a third category steep climb. The struggle for a good position was very fierce. As the wind was a determining factor in the final, a fairly sparse peloton struggled for the stage victory. I sprinted at the right time to the front of the peloton, said Marcato, who saw the danger and had the power to anticipate.
Just before the sprint I had picked out the wheel of Gilbert, but obviously he was too tired. I took the last corner too hard so I had to brake. I lost two or three places and the first five riders suddenly gained pace, the Italian said. For the morale and my feelings it was a good job. Yesterday I participated in the offensive sprint and today I had a chance to ride for a place. If I can hold onto this feeling for the next few days, perhaps something good will happen.
