Injury-free fall for Van Hummel.
The Vacansoleil-DCM team is in Adelaide, ready for the first race of the season. On Sunday the peloton rode a criterium as a warm up. Kenny van Hummel took a fall but Romain Feillu finished in 13th place and was the best Vacansoleil-DCM rider.
Today, the team drove along the beach at Adelaide with conacts of Bianchi. Kenny van Hummel described his injuries: "I have superficial abrasions on my elbow, hip and shin but I'm not stiff. I don't expect it will bother me."
There will be plenty of cheering for the world tour team, especially with Wouter Mol being the rider chosen to be supported by the locals. Team leader Michel Cornelisse wants to ensure that there is good reason for the team to be supported: Many riders want to prove themselves and we are no exception. The team is eager and relaxed but we will have to pick our opportunities.
The first stage is on Tuesday from Prospect to Clare, a distance of around 149km.
